Celebrating 21 Years 1986-2007
Organization
Beantown North Invitational Gay & Lesbian Bowling is a 10-pin (the big balls)
league and is handicapped at 90% of a 210 average.  We are fully sanctioned by
the
USBC, the national governing body of amateur bowling and IGBO, the
International Gay Bowling Organization.  Membership entitles all bowlers in good
standing the rights and benefits of said organizations including prizes and
tournament entry.

League Fees
League fees include a one time, annual membership fee to USBC and a weekly
bowling fee of $16. These fees cover our rental fee to the bowling center and
also funds activities such as parties, raffles, tournaments, end of year banquet
and other special events.

Executive Board and Board of Directors
Each league is run by elected officers: President, Vice-President, Treasurer,
Secretary and Sgt. of Arms and includes by-laws and official USBC bowling rules
for league play.  Team captains make up the board of directors.

Bowling Competition - How it Works
The season is broken into 3 trimesters with winners and runners-up from each
trimester advancing to the end-of-season championship tournament.  Each week,
your team can win up to 8 points based on scratch scores plus a handicap.  At the
end of each trimester, the 2 teams with the highest point total qualify for the
championships.   Didn't win?  That's OK.  Trimester 2 and Trimester 3, the scores
start at zero and you'll have more chances to qualify for the championships. Still
didn't win?  The 2 teams with the highest point total for the entire season also
advance to the championships.  The bowling season is from September to April.

Contests and Prizes
Many prizes can be won!  You don't have to be on a winning team to earn a prize,
nor do you need to be an expert bowler or have a high average.  Anyone can win
an award!  Individuals can also win awards based on their weekly scores, special
events, tournaments and much more!

Other Important Information

Inclement Weather
During bad weather, the officers will determine if play should be cancelled for the
night.   An email will be broadcast as early in the day as possible notifying league
members of the cancellation.   If you're not on email or not sure if you should go
bowling, call Lanes & Games
(617-876-5533) as they will also be notified of the
cancellation.   Also be sure to get the phone numbers of your teammates so that
you can update each other on any sudden schedule changes.
